What happens in step 2?

Here’s what you can expect during assessment and selection.

Familiarisation event

Meet officers and staff, learn more about the role, ask questions and get tips for the recruitment process.

National Sift

Complete the Situational Judgement Test and Behavioural Styles Questionnaire, based on the policing CVF.

Assessment centre

Take part in the national online assessment process to demonstrate your skills and suitability for policing.

National Sift
  • No previous policing knowledge or experience is needed
  • Complete the Situational Judgement Test (SJT)
  • Complete the Behavioural Styles Questionnaire (BSQ)

  • The assessment centre is a national College of Policing process
  • You’ll be assessed on the behaviours and skills expected in policing
  • Passing this stage is essential to progress

  • Attend a pre-selection health medical and fitness test

  • Complete background checks and vetting before an offer is made
